Health status and differential use of medical resources: a survey sample in Kuala Lumpur.

This paper presents information on self-assessed health status and use of modern and traditional medical services by a small sample of Malay, Chinese, and Indian residents of urban central Selangor. There is increasing literature on the variety of medical resources in Malaysia including comprehensive overviews,1,2 and specific reports and studies on modern scientific.i' traditional Malay, 47 Chinese.f and Indian9 medical practices. Differential use of medical services by urban populations has received some attention," 0 but most data have been obtained from rural settings.
